The Ultraformer MPT concentrates ultrasound energy at a fixed depth beneath the skin, creating tiny coagulation points in the tissue. Those points contract on contact and then trigger a wound-healing response that lays down fresh collagen across the following two to three months, so the skin firms and lifts from within rather than from the surface.
The device reaches the SMAS, the muscular-fascial layer that gives the face its structure and the same layer tightened in a surgical lift. Interchangeable cartridges change the treatment depth — superficial cartridges smooth fine lines and tighten the surface, while deeper ones, down to around 4.5 mm, work the structural layer along the jaw, brow and neck. The Ultraformer MPT (Classys) delivers focused ultrasound through interchangeable cartridges at three depths: 4.5 mm for the SMAS layer, 3 mm for the deep dermis and 1.5 mm for the superficial dermis. Depths can be combined in one visit, so lifting and surface texture are addressed together. Risks and side effects. Focused ultrasound places heat at a set depth, and the risks come from that heat landing where it was not intended. Expected: flushing, tenderness, mild swelling and tingling or numbness that fades over a week or two. Less common but important: burns and blistering, prolonged numbness, temporary weakness or asymmetry of the face if a motor nerve is affected, welts or ridging along a treatment line, and loss of facial fat in the treated area, which shows as hollowing rather than lifting and does not reverse quickly. HIFU tightens tissue; it does not reproduce the result of a surgical facelift, and where laxity is advanced a surgical opinion is the honest answer.
