Ultraformer MPT lifts skin with focused ultrasound rather than radiofrequency or light. Where RF heats a volume of tissue and lasers act on or near the surface, this device concentrates ultrasound energy at a precise depth and leaves the layers above and below it untouched. That focus is what lets it reach structures other energy devices cannot. It is built by Classys, the South Korean manufacturer of the Ultraformer series.
The depth that matters most is the SMAS — the superficial musculoaponeurotic system, the deep support layer a surgeon tightens during a facelift. The device delivers high-intensity focused ultrasound to that layer, where the energy creates tiny points of coagulation. The tissue contracts around them straight away, and over the following weeks the body rebuilds collagen along the same plane. The lift comes from that repair, not from removing anything.
Interchangeable cartridges set how deep the energy lands. The face set runs at 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mm: shallow cartridges treat superficial layers for fine lines and texture, and the 4.5 mm cartridge reaches the SMAS for structural lifting. A separate body set works deeper still, at 6.0, 9.0 and 13 mm, which is how the same platform treats areas like the knees and lower legs. The clinician changes cartridge by zone rather than running one depth across a whole face.
MPT stands for Micro Pulsed Technology, and it describes how the energy arrives. Earlier HIFU systems placed it in single, widely spaced shots. Classys states that its micro-pulsed mode creates 417 thermal coagulation points per shot against 17 in conventional HIFU, and works about 2.5 times faster. Spreading the same energy across finer points is what makes the session more comfortable than the HIFU many patients remember.

There is nothing to cut and no entry points, so most people return to normal activity the same day, though mild redness, swelling or tenderness can last briefly. Focused ultrasound is not a facelift and does not pretend to be one. It firms and defines, but it does not remove tissue, and very severe laxity is a case for a surgical assessment rather than a course of HIFU. The clinician says so rather than selling something that cannot deliver. Focused ultrasound places heat at depth, and that carries risk. The usual effects are brief pain during the session, then redness, swelling and tenderness that settle on their own, and temporary numbness or altered sensation is also reported. A 2025 systematic review in Dermatologic Surgery searched the FDA adverse-event database for microfocused ultrasound and found nerve effects, fat loss and scarring reported most often among the rare events; that review covered Ulthera rather than this platform, and voluntary reporting cannot show how often they happen. Risk rises with higher energy and with treatment near nerves and the eye area, which is why the clinician maps the lines, sets the cartridge per zone and treats the periorbital area at conservative settings. The treatment is also not for everyone: a pacemaker, threads or permanent fillers in the area, and reduced sensitivity to heat or pain all need checking first.
