Not sure which zone actually needs the filler?

The fold that bothers you often sits where volume was lost, not where the line shows. A consultation examines the anatomy first and tells you whether filler is the right tool for it at all.

Filler is anatomy, not volume

Contour work with hyaluronic acid fillers looks like a question of how much product goes where. In practice the decisive factor is what runs underneath: the face is dense with arteries, and the zones treated here differ sharply in how much room for error they leave.

That is why these four treatments — the nasolabial folds, the cheekbones and jawline, the lips, and the horizontal lines of the neck — are grouped by anatomy rather than by product name.

Zones, prices and where each one is treated

ZoneWhat it addressesPrice fromResult holds
Lips Volume, border definition, uneven shape, downturned corners 1 800 AED / ml 6–12 months
Nasolabial folds Deep creases from nose to mouth, flattened mid-face support 2 100 AED / ml 9–12 months
Cheekbones, chin, lower third Contour and structural support, jawline definition 1 500 AED / ml 12–18 months
Neck lines Horizontal neck lines on thin, mobile skin 2 200 AED / ml 6–9 months

Contouring that needs volume runs up to six millilitres in one plan, and the full price list carries every position with its own price. The doctor sets the volume at the consultation after examining the zone, so nothing here is sold as a fixed package. Each zone page lists its own indications, contraindications and recovery.

Where the risk sits

The nose-to-mouth area is one of the more demanding regions on the face because of the vessels that supply it. Filler entering a blood vessel is uncommon, but it is the complication that defines how this work should be done: slowly, in small amounts, by a doctor who knows the anatomy and what to do if something goes wrong. Lips bruise and swell more than most areas and settle over about two weeks. Neck skin is thin and mobile, which makes visible lumps and a bluish tint more likely there than on the face.

What decides the outcome. Filler entering a blood vessel is uncommon, and it is the complication that defines how this work should be done: slowly, in small amounts, by a doctor who knows the anatomy of the zone and what to do if something goes wrong. Ask who is injecting you and what happens in that scenario.

Reversibility is a tool, not a guarantee

Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, and that genuinely matters. It is not, however, an undo button: dissolving is a separate medical procedure, it may need more than one session, complete removal cannot be promised for every product, and the enzyme carries its own risk of allergic reaction. Treating reversibility as a safety net changes how carefully a first appointment gets considered, which is exactly the wrong effect.

What results actually look like

Something is visible immediately, but the first days are swelling rather than result. The face can look fuller or slightly uneven at that stage, and the honest assessment comes at about two weeks — which is also when a small correction is decided, if one is needed. Minor asymmetry at that point is normal rather than a failure.

How long it lasts depends on the product, the amount placed, the zone and individual metabolism. Filler in mobile areas breaks down faster than in static ones. No outcome is guaranteed, and no filler is permanent.

Filler usually suits you if

  • The zone has lost volume or definition and you can point to what changed
  • You accept two to three days of swelling and a real assessment only at two weeks
  • You treat the result as temporary — six to eighteen months depending on the zone
  • You can list every injection you have had in the face, whenever it was placed

Better to postpone if

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • There is active infection or inflammation in the area
  • Dental work is planned within the next two weeks
  • A complication from previous injections has not been resolved
  • You have a history of keloid scarring

Ask what goes where before you agree to a syringe

At the consultation the doctor examines the zone, names the class of product, the volume and what it will and will not change. A quoted price on its own is not a treatment plan.

What applies to all four

Swelling, tenderness, firmness and bruising at the injection points are common, not unusual, and can take up to two weeks to clear fully. Less common are lumps, asymmetry needing correction, infection, and delayed inflammatory nodules that appear weeks or months later. Filler is not placed over active infection or inflammation, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where a history of keloid scarring or an unresolved complication from previous injections makes it unwise.

Tell the doctor about blood-thinning medication, autoimmune and uncontrolled chronic conditions, previous filler anywhere in the face regardless of when it was placed, and any history of cold sores. Where possible, postpone dental procedures for about two weeks after treatment — dental work is a recognised trigger for delayed inflammation around filler.

The symptoms that cannot wait

Call 998 — the UAE ambulance number, free and available 24 hours — or go to the nearest emergency department immediately if you develop any change in vision, eye pain, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or a spreading rash. Contact the clinic immediately if pain is severe or increasing rather than settling, if skin turns white, blue, dusky or develops a mottled, net-like pattern, or if blistering appears. These are rare and they need treatment within hours, not the next working day. Do not apply creams, ointments or ice while you wait for advice.

Before booking

A consultation examines the anatomy behind the complaint. Sometimes the fold that bothers you is best treated by supporting the cheek rather than filling the crease; sometimes the honest answer is that filler is not the right tool. Both conclusions are normal outcomes of an assessment, and a quoted price is not an indication that treatment is appropriate for you.

Each treatment has its own contraindications and side effects, listed on its own page. Final suitability is determined by a clinician at an in-person assessment at MED YU MED, Bluewaters Island, Dubai.

One face, four zones, one plan

Zones interact: supporting the cheek often softens the fold you came to fill, and treating the fold alone can leave the face heavier. Bring the whole face to the assessment rather than a single line.
