Lip augmentation treatment at MED YU MED Dubai

Lip Augmentation

Lip augmentation at MED YU MED Dubai is an injectable lip filler treatment for natural volume, clear contour, hydration, shape correction and facial harmony. The procedure uses hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to enhance the lips, define the lip border, correct mild asymmetry and restore volume without surgery.

Lip fillers may be selected for patients who want fuller lips, a softer contour, improved hydration, a more defined Cupid’s bow, correction of a fuzzy outline, downturned corners of the mouth or age-related loss of lip volume. The goal is not to make every patient look the same, but to choose a lip shape and technique that match the face, anatomy and personal aesthetic goal.

At MED YU MED, the doctor assesses lip anatomy, proportions, smile dynamics, skin quality, asymmetry, previous filler history and the desired style before selecting the product and injection technique. Depending on anatomy and preference, the doctor may discuss natural lip filler, lip contour filler, Russian lip filler style, cherry lips filler style or soft hydration-focused correction.

The clinic offers Juvederm Ultra 3, Juvederm Volift, Juvederm Volite, Stylage M, Stylage Special Lips and Alaixin for lip augmentation. These hyaluronic acid fillers differ in texture, softness, flexibility and lifting capacity, so the product is selected according to the desired result: natural volume, contour definition, hydration, shape correction or more visible enhancement.

  • Naturally thin or small lips that you want gently fuller
  • Lips that have thinned or lost shape with age
  • An undefined or faded lip border and a flat cupid’s bow
  • An imbalance between the top and bottom lip
  • Downturned or 'sad' corners of the mouth
  • Smoker’s lines and fine lip lines (assessed alongside the lip itself)
  • Lip border definition — shaping the vermillion border and Cupid’s bow without adding much volume

Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active cold sores or skin infection, or certain conditions — checked at consultation.

- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Active cold sores (herpes labialis), skin infection or inflammation around the lips — tell the doctor if you get cold sores at all, since lip injections can trigger a recurrence and antiviral cover is usually started beforehand

- Known allergy to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine
- Bleeding disorders or anticoagulant therapy, after doctor assessment
- Autoimmune or uncontrolled chronic conditions, after doctor assessment

- Lower lip
- Lip contour
- Cupid’s bow
- Vermilion border
- Lip body
- Oral commissures / mouth corners, after doctor assessment

About the treatment

Choosing the best lip filler in Dubai usually comes down to one thing: a result that still looks like your own lips, only balanced and a little fuller. At MED YU MED a licensed doctor shapes the lips with hyaluronic acid filler — a soft, clear gel, the same HA the skin already holds — placed in measured amounts to define the border, add gentle volume or even out an uneven shape. The aim is proportion that suits your face, not a one-size pout.

Lip filler does more than add size. It can restore lips thinned with age, sharpen a faded lip line, lift downturned corners or balance a top and bottom lip that do not match. The result shows the same day, and because the gel is hyaluronic acid it can be dissolved if you want it adjusted or removed. It is a medical procedure under DHA facility licence No. 6589480, held by MED YU MED on Bluewaters Island. Results vary between individuals, and a consultation sets the plan before any injection.

How it works

Lip augmentation with filler uses hyaluronic acid (HA), a water-binding gel that adds volume and structure where it is placed. Injected into the body or the border of the lip, it plumps the tissue, defines the edge and supports the shape. The gel also draws in water, which keeps the lips soft and helps the result settle naturally. Because HA is a substance the body already makes, the filler breaks down slowly over months rather than staying for good.

The shape comes from the doctor's technique. A doctor can define the lip border for a crisper outline, add volume to the body for fullness, or focus on the cupid's bow and corners for balance. The 'Russian lips' technique injects vertically to lift and flatten the lip for more height with less forward projection — one style among several, suited to some lips and not others. The doctor chooses a soft HA filler made for lips and places it with a fine needle or cannula. How much goes in is agreed at the consultation, usually starting with a single syringe, not sold as a fixed package.

We work with reversible hyaluronic acid products only. Permanent lip fillers are not used at the clinic, because an HA result can be corrected or dissolved with hyaluronidase if the shape does not suit you.

How the session goes

  1. Consultation

A doctor studies your lip shape, proportion and the look you want, reviews your medical history, and explains how much filler to use and where to place it for a balanced result.

  2. Preparation

The lips are cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied. Most lip fillers also contain lidocaine, so the area numbs further as the injection begins.

  3. Injection

The doctor places measured amounts of hyaluronic acid into the lip with a fine needle or cannula, shaping and moulding by hand as they go. Most lip treatments take 20-30 minutes.

  4. Aftercare

You can leave straight away. Lips swell more than most areas, so expect fuller, tender lips for a day or two. Avoid heat, heavy exercise and pressure, and follow the doctor's care notes.

Results you can expect

Lips look fuller and more defined the moment the filler goes in, but they swell noticeably for the first day or two, so the true shape only shows once that settles over about a week. Hyaluronic acid lip filler usually lasts 6-12 months — lips move and the area has a rich blood supply, so the body breaks the gel down a little faster than in stiller areas — before the volume gradually fades. Most patients top up once or twice a year. How long it holds depends on the filler, the amount and your metabolism. Results vary between individuals, and the doctor can review the lips at two weeks to fine-tune if needed.

Recovery and aftercare

Lips swell more than almost any other area, so expect them to look bigger and feel tender for the first day or two, with possible bruising at the injection points. Swelling is most marked for the first two to three days and settles over about a week, bruising can last up to two weeks, and the final shape is judged at two to four weeks — so do not book lip filler less than three to four weeks before a wedding, photoshoot or other event. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot drinks and alcohol for 24 hours, and try not to press or pucker hard so the filler sets where the doctor shaped it. A little firmness or small lumps in the first week are normal and soften as the gel settles. Most people return to work the same or next day.

Risks and side effects. Swelling, tenderness and bruising are expected. The serious risk of any lip filler is vascular occlusion — filler entering or pressing on a blood vessel. It is rare but urgent: untreated it can cause the skin to break down, and, very rarely, filler travelling toward the vessels of the eye can affect vision. It is treated with hyaluronidase, which dissolves the filler, and outcomes are best when treatment starts within the first hours. Hyaluronidase is kept on site at MED YU MED so a vascular complication can be treated immediately — a question worth asking any clinic before a filler injection. Small painless lumps in the first week usually soften; a lump that is hot, red, painful or growing is not normal at any point. Firm nodules can also appear weeks or months later, sometimes after an infection, dental work or vaccination, and need a doctor rather than time.

When to contact us urgently. Call MED YU MED on +971 52 184 5011 (daily 10:00–22:00) if you notice whiteness or a pale patch on the lip or surrounding skin, pain that is stronger than expected or increasing after the first hours, a dusky, blue or net-like skin pattern, coldness of the area, or blistering. With any change in vision, or with these signs outside our opening hours, go to the nearest emergency department or call 998 — do not wait for the clinic to open.

Frequently asked questions

How much does lip filler cost in Dubai?

At MED YU MED lip filler starts from 1800 AED. The total depends on how much hyaluronic acid your lips need — usually one syringe for a natural result, more for fuller shaping or to correct an imbalance. The doctor estimates the amount and gives an exact quote at consultation.

How long does lip filler last?

Hyaluronic acid lip filler usually lasts 6-12 months. Lips move constantly and have a rich blood supply, so the gel breaks down a little faster than in stiller areas. A top-up once or twice a year is the usual rhythm. Duration comes down to the product used, how much went in and how quickly your body clears it. Results vary between individuals.

Does lip filler hurt?

Discomfort is mild to moderate. A numbing cream is applied first and most lip fillers contain lidocaine, so the lips numb as the injection begins. Most patients feel pressure and quick pricks rather than sharp pain. The lips are sensitive, so the doctor works gently and checks in as they go.

What are 'Russian lips'?

Russian lips is a technique, not a product. The doctor injects the filler vertically from the lip border to lift and flatten the lip, giving more height and a defined shape with less forward projection than a classic horizontal fill. It suits some lips and not others, and the doctor advises whether it fits your shape at consultation.

Can lip filler be dissolved?

Yes. Because lip filler is hyaluronic acid, a doctor can inject hyaluronidase to break it down if you want it reduced or removed, or to correct an uneven result. This reversibility is one reason HA fillers are used for lips. It is assessed and performed by the doctor.

Will my lips look natural?

That depends on the amount and the technique. Starting with a single syringe, defining the shape and balancing the top and bottom lip to your face keeps the result natural; overfilling is what looks done. The doctor works to your proportions, and the filler can be dissolved if you want it adjusted. Results vary between individuals.

What are the risks of lip filler?

Expected: swelling, bruising, tenderness and temporary lumpiness. Less common: infection, a cold sore flare-up, asymmetry needing correction, and delayed nodules appearing weeks or months later. Rare but serious: vascular occlusion, where filler enters or compresses a blood vessel, which can damage the skin and, very rarely, affect vision. It is treated urgently with hyaluronidase, which we keep on site. The warning signs and who to call are in the aftercare section above.
