Lines that move and lines that stay are treated differently
A crease you only see when you frown, a fold that sits there at rest, and fine crepe across the cheek are three separate problems. One responds to relaxing the muscle, one to support underneath, one to rebuilding the skin itself. Using the wrong one is how people end up disappointed with a correct procedure.

Which kind of line are you looking at
The practical test
Relax your face completely and look in the mirror. What disappears is a dynamic line, made by muscle movement. What stays is a static line, where the skin itself has creased or lost the support beneath it. Most faces after 40 carry both, and a line that started dynamic becomes static over years of repetition.
- Dynamic lines — forehead, between the brows, around the eyes. Muscle-driven, visible on expression.
- Static folds — nasolabial folds, marionette lines, neck lines. Structural: volume has gone, and the fold sits there at rest.
- Fine crepe and texture — cheeks, under the eyes, décolleté. Thin, dehydrated skin with weakened collagen, often from years of sun.
Treating a static fold by relaxing muscle does very little. Filling a dynamic line without addressing the movement means the result folds again within weeks. Reading the face correctly is what the consultation is for.
Sun does most of the damage here. Sun exposure is a major contributor to visible wrinkling, and in Dubai it runs all year. Any protocol on this page performs better with daily sun protection behind it, and worse without. That is a plain statement about how collagen is spent, not an upsell.

What each method can and cannot do
Relaxing a muscle is understood to soften the line that muscle makes. It does not fill a crease already etched into the skin, and it does not improve texture. The effect wears off and the treatment is repeated on a schedule set by the doctor.
A filler supports a fold from underneath. It is placed where volume has been lost, not into the line itself, which is why a good result on a nasolabial fold often comes from treating the cheek above it. Hyaluronic acid products are broken down by the body over months, and the interval before a top-up varies by product and by person.
Lasers, microneedling and peels work on the skin itself: they injure it in a controlled way so that it rebuilds. That usually improves texture, fine lines and tone over weeks to months. None of them lifts a descended structure or replaces lost volume.
What we will not promise. No injection, laser or peel makes skin permanently line-free, and a permanent result is not what any of these methods delivers. Deep static folds improve rather than vanish. Results vary with age, skin type, sun exposure and how the face moves.
How it usually runs
Muscle-relaxing injections take effect over several days and settle by around two weeks, which is when a review appointment checks symmetry. Fillers are visible from the same day, with swelling and sometimes bruising for a few days before the final shape reads.
Skin protocols — peels, microneedling, laser — are courses. Expect redness for a day or two after a light peel, several days of redness and small marks after microneedling, and a build-up of results across three sessions and the two to three months that follow.
Who this suits, and who should wait

- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- There is active infection, inflammation, herpes or an open area in the zone
- You have a neuromuscular disorder — this is assessed before any botulinum treatment
- You finished isotretinoin recently, or scar keloids
- You are looking for the result of a surgical lift
This list is not exhaustive. Other conditions, medicines and previous treatments may also rule a protocol out or change the plan. Final suitability is determined by a doctor at an in-person assessment.
Bring the face, not the procedure name
Patients often arrive asking for a specific injection and leave with a different plan, because the lines they pointed at were static and the request was for something that treats movement. The assessment costs you twenty minutes and saves the wrong purchase.
Questions people ask
How much does wrinkle treatment cost in Dubai?
At MED YU MED it depends on the method. Peels start at 550 AED, laser work at 1500 AED for the eye area, RF microneedling at 2200 AED per session, biorevitalisation and fillers at 2100 AED. What is the difference between botulinum injections and fillers for wrinkles?
One reduces the movement that folds the skin; the other supports skin that has lost volume underneath. Forehead and frown lines are usually movement. Nasolabial folds and marionette lines are usually structure. Many plans combine them, because most faces after 40 have both.
At what age should I start?
There is no age that fits everyone. The practical trigger is a line that has started to remain visible at rest, or texture that no longer recovers after a good night’s sleep. Starting earlier with skin quality work and sun protection usually means less correction later; starting a course because of a birthday number usually means paying for something the face did not need yet.
Will my face look frozen or unnatural?
That comes from dose and placement, not from the treatment existing. Conservative dosing usually keeps expression while softening the line, and is the approach we use by default. If you have had a result you did not like elsewhere, bring the details to the consultation — dose, zones and interval are adjustable.
Can lasers remove deep wrinkles?
They improve them. Laser resurfacing and microneedling rebuild collagen and refine texture, which softens the appearance of a deep fold and works well on fine lines. A deep static fold caused by lost volume also needs support underneath, and a fold caused by muscle also needs the movement addressed.
How long do the results last?
Muscle-relaxing injections are repeated on a schedule the doctor sets after seeing how you respond. Hyaluronic acid fillers are gradually broken down over months, with the interval depending on product, zone and metabolism. Collagen built by lasers, microneedling and stimulators persists while ageing continues underneath, so maintenance sessions are usual.
Is there downtime?
Injections: none to a day, with possible bruising. Light peels: redness and flaking for a day or two. RF microneedling: redness and small marks for several days. Fractional laser: redness and a bronzed, rough texture for around three to five days. We plan the protocol around your calendar rather than the other way round.
Do creams work on wrinkles?
Retinoids and daily sun protection have genuine evidence behind them for fine lines and texture, and they hold whatever a clinic protocol achieves. What topical care does not do is relax a muscle or replace lost volume. Treating home care and in-clinic work as competitors is a mistake; they cover different parts of the same problem.
What are the side effects?
Redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising are the common ones, each lasting from hours to several days depending on the method. Injectable treatments carry less common risks that are explained and consented in person before the first session. Anything that worsens instead of settling — spreading redness, increasing pain, blistering, fever, or any change in vision — needs to be reported to the clinic the same day. Any change in vision needs assessment the same day.
