Fotona SP Dynamis

The dual-laser platform behind the SMOOTH, FRAC3 and 4D protocols at MED YU MED Dubai.

MED YU MED

Fotona SP Dynamis pairs two lasers in one platform: a 1064 nm Nd:YAG that reaches deep into the dermis and a 2940 nm Er:YAG that works precisely at the surface. The clinician switches between them, and layers them, so one machine covers treatments that often need several separate devices.

Each wavelength has its own job. The Nd:YAG penetrates deep, which makes it the source for vascular lesions, controlled heating and tissue tightening. The Er:YAG is absorbed almost entirely by water at the skin surface, so it resurfaces fine lines, scars and uneven texture through controlled ablation with little heat spreading into the surrounding tissue. Used together, one beam heats and the other refinishes, which is why a single session can address a concern at more than one depth instead of treating only the surface or only the deeper layer.

The named Fotona modes build on that range. SMOOTH warms tissue from inside the mouth, FRAC3 uses the Nd:YAG in a fractional pattern, PIANO delivers bulk heating, and SupErficial polishes the surface with the Er:YAG. The 4D protocol runs all four in one session for a non-surgical lift of the lower face and neck. High peak power delivers the energy in short pulses, which supports both precision and patient comfort.

At MED YU MED the platform covers lifting, resurfacing, rejuvenation, vascular work, acne and scars, with the protocol matched to each concern rather than forced from a single setting. Because the same system spans gentle warming and ablative resurfacing, a course can move between modes as the skin responds.

Downtime depends on the mode. Gentle, non-ablative passes typically leave little to no recovery, while ablative resurfacing can mean a few days of redness and flaking while the surface heals. The right protocol, energy and number of sessions depend on skin type and the concern being treated, so a clinician confirms these at consultation, and results vary between individuals.

What This Device Treats

Why This Device at MED YU MED

Medically reviewed by Dr. Fariza Dzgoeva, General Practitioner, Aesthetic Medicine Doctor, Dermatologist, DHA Licence No. 03325290-001. Trained on the SP Dynamis by Richmond Medical LLC / Fotona Laser & Health Academy, 1 November 2024. Last reviewed: 16 July 2026.

Trained by the manufacturer's distributor: Richmond Medical LLC and the Fotona Laser & Health Academy ran "Aesthetic Laser Applications & Principles of Laser Safety on SP Dynamis (Er:YAG & Nd:YAG)" at the clinic — four doctors and one Allied Health therapist hold attendance certificates (November 2024 and July 2025).

Treatment performed by clinicians trained on this machine by the manufacturer's distributor: Dr. Fariza Dzgoeva (DHA 03325290-001), Dr. Karina Abdullina (DHA 26439795-001), Dr. Ilias Dautov (DHA 09620692-002), Dr. Zhibek Rakhimbekova (DHA 28857822-001), and Allied Health therapist Dalida Koylibaeva (DHA 65560224-001).

How a Session Works

  1. ConsultationSkin-type assessment, review of the concern and medical history, and selection of the wavelength and protocol that fit the goal.
  2. PreparationThe area is cleansed, protective eyewear is fitted, and the clinician sets the mode, depth and energy. A topical anaesthetic may be used before ablative passes.
  3. TreatmentThe laser delivers Nd:YAG, Er:YAG or a layered protocol across the area in short high-power pulses until the planned energy is reached.
  4. AftercareAftercare depends on the mode: sun protection and SPF for all, with extra wound care after ablative resurfacing. Sessions repeat across a course where indicated.

FAQ

What is the Fotona SP Dynamis?
It is a dual-wavelength laser platform combining a 1064 nm Nd:YAG and a 2940 nm Er:YAG laser, made by Fotona d.o.o. in Slovenia. At MED YU MED it runs protocols including SMOOTH, FRAC3, PIANO and 4D for lifting, resurfacing, vascular work and rejuvenation.
What is Fotona 4D?
4D is a Fotona protocol that runs four modes in one session: SMOOTH from inside the mouth, FRAC3 fractional treatment, PIANO deep heating and SupErficial surface polishing. It uses both the Nd:YAG and Er:YAG sources for a non-surgical lift of the lower face and neck.
Is there downtime after a Fotona treatment?
It depends on the mode. Gentle, non-ablative passes usually leave little to no recovery, while ablative resurfacing can mean a few days of redness and flaking. The clinician explains the expected downtime for your protocol at consultation.
What does the Er:YAG laser do?
The 2940 nm Er:YAG works at the skin surface, resurfacing fine lines, scars and uneven texture through controlled ablation with minimal heat spreading into surrounding tissue. The 1064 nm Nd:YAG handles the deeper heating, tightening and vascular work.
How many Fotona sessions are needed?
It depends on the concern and the protocol. Some treatments work as a single session, others run across a short course. A clinician confirms the plan at consultation, and results vary between individuals.
Who should not have a Fotona treatment?
Fotona is not performed under the age of 18; during pregnancy or breastfeeding; over active infection, inflammation, open wounds or herpes in the treatment area; on freshly tanned or sunburnt skin; with active cancer or ongoing cancer treatment; with uncontrolled chronic, endocrine or autoimmune conditions; with photosensitivity or use of photosensitising medication; after recent isotretinoin use; after recent aggressive acids, retinoids, peeling or resurfacing treatments; with uncontrolled diabetes or impaired wound healing; with keloid tendency or abnormal scarring risk; over suspicious skin lesions that need a dermatologist assessment first; or during a severe rosacea flare or acute dermatitis in the treatment area. A specialist confirms the full list and your suitability at consultation.
