HELEO PRO LED photodynamic therapy treatment at MED YU MED Dubai

LED Photodynamic Therapy

HELEO PRO LED at MED YU MED Dubai is a professional LED light therapy treatment for skin rejuvenation, redness, acne-prone skin, inflammation, recovery and a brighter, healthier-looking complexion. The procedure uses selected LED light modes, including red light and yellow light protocols, to support visible skin quality without heat, injections or downtime.

Unlike a home red light therapy mask, HELEO PRO LED is an in-clinic treatment performed with a professional LED panel and selected exposure time. The doctor or aesthetic specialist chooses the protocol according to the skin condition, treatment area and goal: calming sensitive skin, supporting recovery after aesthetic procedures, improving dull tone, reducing visible redness, helping acne-prone skin or refreshing tired-looking skin.

Red light therapy is commonly selected for skin rejuvenation, firmness, post-procedure recovery and overall skin quality. Yellow light protocols may be recommended for sensitive, reactive or tired-looking skin when the goal is to calm the skin, improve radiance and support a fresher appearance. HELEO PRO LED can be used as a standalone LED facial course or as a recovery step after laser, microneedling, injectables or other aesthetic treatments, when the skin needs a gentle supportive protocol.

At MED YU MED, HELEO PRO LED treatments are available for the face, face + neck, face + neck + décolleté, hands and larger body zones. Session options include 30-minute face treatment, combination areas and short yellow light sessions of 10, 20 or 30 minutes. Prices start from 300 AED for selected yellow light sessions and from 800 AED for face LED therapy.

LED Photodynamic Therapy in Dubai: what the treatment does

LED light therapy in Dubai gives skin a way to calm down and repair without heat, needles or downtime. At MED YU MED it runs on the HELEO PRO medical LED panel, which bathes the skin in measured doses of 630 nm red and 830 nm near-infrared light — a process called photobiomodulation. Skin cells absorb these wavelengths in their mitochondria, lift their energy output, and respond by easing inflammation, building collagen and speeding repair.

Because nothing is cut, heated or ablated, the session feels like little more than warmth, and there is no recovery. That makes it a steady choice for inflamed or acne-prone skin, redness, and the days right after injectables or laser when tissue needs to settle. A DHA-licensed team sets the protocol to your skin. Results build session over session rather than overnight, they vary between individuals, and a consultation confirms the plan first.

How LED Photodynamic Therapy works

LED light therapy, sometimes called photodynamic or red light therapy, uses specific wavelengths of light as a signal rather than a wound. The HELEO PRO is a medical-grade panel, not a heat-based device or a home mask. It delivers 630 nm red light, which acts at the surface and mid-dermis on tone, collagen and inflammation, alongside 830 nm near-infrared light, which reaches deeper to support repair and circulation.

The mechanism is photobiomodulation: the mitochondria inside skin cells absorb the light and raise their energy production, which calms inflammatory pathways and prompts fibroblasts to build collagen. There is no thermal injury and no recovery, which is exactly why the panel pairs so well with stronger treatments — it helps skin settle after laser, microneedling or injectables and extends their results. Dose and distance matter, so a medical panel run by a clinician differs from an at-home LED gadget. The full device specification sits on the HELEO PRO device page.

Light at these wavelengths is absorbed by chromophores inside the cell and raises ATP production without heating the tissue, which is why a session leaves no downtime.

How a session goes: LED Photodynamic Therapy

  1. Consultation

Skin assessment and review of your concerns and any medications that affect light sensitivity. The clinician sets the wavelength focus and session length.

  2. Preparation

Skin is cleansed and protective eyewear is fitted. No numbing or gel is needed, since the treatment uses light rather than heat or needles.

  3. Treatment

You lie under the HELEO PRO panel for the set time while the red and near-infrared light does its work. The session feels like gentle warmth and usually takes around 15 to 30 minutes.

  4. Aftercare

There is no recovery. Normal skincare and makeup resume straight away, and the clinician suggests a session frequency to build results.

Results after LED Photodynamic Therapy

LED light therapy works by accumulation, not by a single dramatic session. Most people notice calmer, less reactive skin and a clearer tone after a short course run close together, with collagen-related firmness building more gradually over weeks. Used after laser or injectables, a single session can help redness and swelling settle faster. For skin quality and breakout-prone skin, a course of regular sessions holds results better than one visit, and a maintenance rhythm keeps them. The clinician sets the frequency to your skin and goal. Results vary between individuals, and LED supports skin health rather than replacing medical treatment for active acne or other conditions.

A session runs about 20 to 30 minutes under the panel. As a standalone course LED is usually taken weekly over several weeks and then spaced out for maintenance; for inflammatory skin the doctor may schedule it more often for a short period. As an add-on it is used immediately after microneedling, a peel or laser to calm the skin.

Recovery and aftercare after LED Photodynamic Therapy

There is no downtime at all. The skin is not heated, cut or abraded, so you can return to normal activity, skincare and makeup immediately. Some people notice a mild, pleasant warmth during the session and a fresher look afterwards. Because the treatment can leave skin briefly more responsive to light, daily SPF is sensible, as it is after any facial. The clinic confirms how soon to repeat sessions for your plan.

What to expect, honestly. LED light does not heat, cut or break the skin, so the safety profile is the mildest of anything we offer. Side effects are uncommon: mild redness, temporary dryness, headache or eye strain if eye protection slips. Eye shields are worn throughout, because staring into a bright panel is the one real hazard here. Light treatment is unsuitable if you take a photosensitising medicine such as isotretinoin or certain antibiotics, or if you have a photosensitivity disorder. On results: published evidence for LED in skin is modest and studies are small, so we describe it as a supportive treatment that helps skin settle after stronger procedures, not as a replacement for them. The effect builds over a course and fades without maintenance.

If something is not right. Call MED YU MED on +971 52 184 5011 (daily 10:00–22:00) if you develop a rash, blistering, lasting redness, or eye pain or visual disturbance after a session. Outside our opening hours, go to the nearest emergency department or call 998 for an ambulance — do not wait for the clinic to reopen.

LED Photodynamic Therapy: frequently asked questions

How much does LED light therapy cost in Dubai?

At MED YU MED LED light therapy starts from 300 AED per session. Courses and protocols added after laser or injectables are priced per plan, since cost depends on the number of sessions. A consultation gives you an exact quote.

What does LED light therapy do for the skin?

The HELEO PRO panel delivers red and near-infrared light that skin cells absorb to raise their energy output, a process called photobiomodulation. It helps calm inflammation and redness, supports collagen, and speeds repair, which is why it suits breakout-prone, reactive and post-procedure skin.

How many LED sessions will I need?

LED works by accumulation, so a short course run close together usually works better than a single visit. For redness or recovery after a procedure, even one session can help. The clinician sets the number and frequency to your skin. Results vary between individuals.

Is LED light therapy safe?

Yes, for most people. There is no heat, cutting or needling, and the light used is non-ablative, so the treatment is gentle and has no downtime. Certain medications and conditions increase light sensitivity, so the clinician reviews your history at consultation.

Is medical LED better than an at-home LED mask?

A medical panel like the HELEO PRO delivers a controlled dose at the right wavelengths and distance, which a small home mask cannot match. A clinician also sets the protocol and combines it with other treatments. Home devices can support upkeep but do not replace a clinical course.

Is there any downtime after LED therapy?

No. The skin is not heated or broken, so you can return to normal activity, skincare and makeup straight away. Daily SPF is sensible afterwards, as with any facial. The clinic advises when to repeat sessions.

What are the risks of LED therapy, and how strong is the evidence?

Risks are low: mild redness, temporary dryness, and headache or eye strain if eye protection is not worn properly. Eye shields are used throughout. The treatment is not suitable if you take a photosensitising medicine such as isotretinoin or certain antibiotics, or have a photosensitivity disorder such as lupus or porphyria. On evidence: published studies of LED in skin are small and the effect is modest, so we offer it as support after stronger treatments and for skin comfort, rather than as a substitute for them.
