The short answer
Rejuran is a family of polynucleotide injectables from the Korean manufacturer PharmaResearch, not a single product. Rejuran Healer is the original line, described for use across the entire face. Rejuran i is described as optimized for thin skin, such as fine lines around the eyes. Rejuran S is described as effective in reducing wrinkles and scars. All three use salmon-derived polynucleotide. Your doctor chooses the line after examining your skin, so ask which one is proposed and why.
Why the names cause confusion
People search for “Rejuran” as if it were one product. The manufacturer sells several, and the names shift between sources. PharmaResearch’s 2024 press release calls the original formulation both “REJURAN” and “the original REJURAN Healer”. The price list at MED YU MED names three lines: Rejuran Healer, Rejuran S and Rejuran i. A fourth line, HB plus, appears in the manufacturer’s material but not on the treatment pages of the clinic.
The lines share one idea. According to the manufacturer, each contains polynucleotide (PN) extracted from salmon with its patented DNA Optimizing Technology, and the product is administered “directly into the dermis to improve the overall skin environment and enhance skin health”. This article covers only how the lines differ. For the basics of PDRN, read the clinic’s article on what PDRN is and how it is studied. For how a course works in practice, see polynucleotide injections at the clinic.
What the manufacturer says each line is for
| Line | Manufacturer’s description (2024 press release) | On the MED YU MED price list |
|---|---|---|
| Rejuran Healer (original REJURAN) | Can be used on the entire face | Yes |
| Rejuran i | Optimized for thin skin, such as fine lines around the eyes | Yes |
| Rejuran S | Effective in reducing wrinkles and scars | Yes |
| Rejuran HB plus | Has a pain-relieving effect; contains lidocaine and hyaluronic acid | Not listed |
The same release describes Rejuran as a medical device for the temporary improvement of facial wrinkles. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions, not a treatment plan. They do not say which line suits your skin, and this page does not match lines to skin problems. That decision belongs to the examining doctor.
How a doctor decides between lines
At MED YU MED the doctor selects the product from your skin concern, the treatment area and the result you want. Before that, the doctor checks skin hydration, elasticity, sensitivity, inflammation, previous procedures, allergies and contraindications. So “your doctor chooses the line” is the honest answer to “which Rejuran is right for me”.
The line is also only one decision among several. A 2026 split-face study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology used Rejuran on both cheeks of 40 adults, with three sessions at 3-week intervals. One cheek received intradermal serial-puncture injections and the other a subdermal cannula technique. Fine lines improved on both sides by week 12, and the subdermal side met the study’s non-inferiority margin. Only the intradermal side showed visible injection-site embossing, mostly mild to moderate. Pain scores were lower on the subdermal side at every session. Depth, technique and spacing are choices separate from the product name, and your doctor makes them too.

Pain, safety and age
Pain. PharmaResearch states that the high molecular weight and viscosity of PN can cause pain during injection. The manufacturer states that its HB plus line contains lidocaine and was developed to reduce injection pain. HB plus is not listed on the clinic’s treatment pages. At MED YU MED a topical numbing cream goes on first, and the clinic’s treatment page says most patients feel small pricks rather than pain. Individual sensitivity varies.
Safety. A 2026 systematic review in Cureus analysed seven randomized trials of polynucleotides and PDRN, with 183 participants in total, across skin rejuvenation, scar prevention and wound healing. It found no serious treatment-related adverse events, and in the four skin rejuvenation studies the local reactions were predominantly mild and transient. The authors also point to small samples and limited follow-up, so rare events are not well mapped. Infection is one of them. A 2026 case report described bilateral facial abscesses in a healthy 57-year-old woman after a polynucleotide injection from another manufacturer. The authors advise that worsening pain, rising inflammatory markers or fluctuance should prompt imaging and aspiration.
Age. The clinic sets no fixed age for skin boosters. The doctor decides from the condition of your skin, such as dehydration, dullness, fine lines or reduced elasticity.
What polynucleotides change and what they leave alone
The clinic describes polynucleotides as injected skin boosters that work on skin quality, not on shape. They may suit dehydrated, dull skin with fine lines, reduced elasticity, uneven texture or early signs of photoageing. They are not a wrinkle filler or a contouring treatment. If your main concern is volume, a deep fold or facial shape, the plan looks different, and boosters and fillers are sometimes combined: boosters for skin quality, fillers for structure. The clinic also says the evidence base for polynucleotides in aesthetic use is limited, and it gives no figures for how much any product improves skin. That caution applies to every Rejuran line, so choose a doctor who is willing to say what the treatment cannot do.
Who should talk to a doctor first
Most polynucleotide products are made from fish DNA, so a fish allergy may rule them out. Tell the doctor about any fish or seafood allergy, an allergy to any component of the product, and any reaction to an earlier injectable. The clinic’s treatment pages also list these reasons to wait or to get a doctor’s decision first:
- pregnancy or breastfeeding;
- active skin infection, inflammation or herpes at the injection site;
- a bleeding disorder or anticoagulant treatment;
- an autoimmune or uncontrolled chronic condition;
- a tendency to form keloid scars;
- treatment around the eyes, which carries a higher risk of swelling and vascular complications and happens only after assessment.
The list is not exhaustive, and the doctor confirms suitability at an in-person assessment.
What a visit looks like
The visit follows four steps. A consultation comes first, then skin preparation with a numbing cream, then the injection with a very fine needle, which usually takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on the area and the product. The doctor finishes by explaining what to expect and what to avoid. Small bumps at the injection points usually flatten within 24 to 72 hours and can stay visible for up to a week. With polynucleotides these timings may differ, and your doctor tells you what to expect with your product. Your doctor sets the exact schedule for your treatment, and our article on skin booster aftercare and downtime covers the first two weeks.
When to seek urgent help
If the skin turns white, blotchy or dusky, a net-like pattern appears, or pain is out of proportion to the procedure and keeps growing, these can be signs of a blocked blood vessel: call the clinic immediately, and if you cannot reach a doctor straight away or it is outside opening hours, call 998 or go to the nearest emergency department. For any change in vision, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or signs of a stroke such as sudden weakness or a drooping face, call 998 or go to the nearest emergency department at once.
Contact the clinic the same day about spreading redness, heat, fever or a lump that is getting worse. The clinic does not operate around the clock.
Frequently asked questions
What is Rejuran Healer?
It is the original line of the Rejuran range. PharmaResearch describes the original product for use on the entire face and as a medical device for the temporary improvement of facial wrinkles. The active material is salmon-derived polynucleotide.
Is Rejuran a skin booster?
Yes, in the sense that it is injected into the skin to change skin quality rather than facial shape. Unlike hyaluronic acid boosters, it is built on polynucleotide. The clinic lists it within its biorevitalization service.
What is Rejuran S?
The manufacturer describes Rejuran S as effective in reducing wrinkles and scars. It is one of three Rejuran lines on the clinic’s price list. The doctor decides whether it fits your skin after an examination.
Can Rejuran i be used under the eyes?
The manufacturer describes Rejuran i as optimized for thin skin, such as fine lines around the eyes. At the clinic, the under-eye area is treated only after assessment, because swelling and vascular complications are more likely there. It is not suitable for everyone.
Does Rejuran hurt?
Most patients feel small pricks after the numbing cream, according to the clinic. The manufacturer notes that the viscosity of PN can cause pain and developed HB plus, which contains lidocaine, for that reason. Pain tolerance differs from person to person.
Is Rejuran safe?
A 2026 review of seven randomized trials of polynucleotides found no serious treatment-related adverse events, but the studies were small and short. Infection, allergy and vascular problems are possible. The clinic does not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and a fish allergy may rule it out.
What age is Rejuran for?
There is no fixed age. The doctor looks at the state of your skin: dehydration, dullness, fine lines and reduced elasticity. Age alone does not decide whether a polynucleotide booster makes sense.
