Genius by Lutronic is a radiofrequency microneedling system built around feedback. Insulated, gold-plated needles drop to a set depth in the dermis, adjustable from 0.4 to 4.0 mm in 0.2 mm steps, and release RF energy at the tip while the insulation spares the surface. The surface takes less heat than it would from an ablative laser, and the energy lands below it, where collagen and elastin are made.
What separates Genius from a fixed-dose device is real-time impedance sensing. Tissue resistance changes with depth, hydration and density, so the same energy setting does not heat every area the same way. Lutronic states that the system reads tissue impedance and adjusts delivered energy up to 500 times per second, rather than firing a preset dose. The clinician sees how much energy reached the dermis and can correct on the spot.
That measured delivery matters most where skin is thin or uneven. The device suits tightening lax skin, softening acne scars and refining enlarged pores, and the depth control lets the clinician treat the same face at different levels: shallower over delicate zones, deeper where laxity sits. Because the needles are insulated and release energy only at the tip, the epidermis takes less heat than it would from ablative resurfacing, which lowers the pigment risk that matters most on darker phototypes.
At MED YU MED, Genius treats the face, eyelids, neck and decollete, and body areas including the abdomen, hands, knees, buttocks and hips. The clinician sets needle depth, energy and the number of passes against your skin and the concern being addressed, so two patients booked for the same area can still run different parameters. A consultation confirms suitability and the plan before any treatment.
Comfort is reasonable for the depth involved. Numbing cream goes on first, and most people describe pressure and warmth with brief sharper moments over bony areas where the skin sits close to bone. Afterwards, expect short-lived redness and a sandpaper texture for a day or two; some pinpoint marks can show where deeper passes ran, and swelling or bruising are less common. The needles carry heat into the dermis, so this is not a surface treatment: in October 2025 the US FDA warned that serious complications have been reported with certain uses of RF microneedling devices, including burns, scarring, fat loss, disfigurement and nerve damage, some needing surgical repair or medical intervention. That is why the clinician reviews your skin, your medical history and any implants, sets the depth per zone, and treats the eye area with particular care.
Results build rather than appear at once. Collagen remodelling continues for several months across a short course of sessions, usually spaced a few weeks apart, and outcomes vary between individuals depending on skin condition and age.
