MED YU MED

Genius by Lutronic is a radiofrequency microneedling system built around feedback. Insulated, gold-plated needles drop to a set depth in the dermis, adjustable from 0.4 to 4.0 mm in 0.2 mm steps, and release RF energy at the tip while the insulation spares the surface. The surface takes less heat than it would from an ablative laser, and the energy lands below it, where collagen and elastin are made.

What separates Genius from a fixed-dose device is real-time impedance sensing. Tissue resistance changes with depth, hydration and density, so the same energy setting does not heat every area the same way. Lutronic states that the system reads tissue impedance and adjusts delivered energy up to 500 times per second, rather than firing a preset dose. The clinician sees how much energy reached the dermis and can correct on the spot.

That measured delivery matters most where skin is thin or uneven. The device suits tightening lax skin, softening acne scars and refining enlarged pores, and the depth control lets the clinician treat the same face at different levels: shallower over delicate zones, deeper where laxity sits. Because the needles are insulated and release energy only at the tip, the epidermis takes less heat than it would from ablative resurfacing, which lowers the pigment risk that matters most on darker phototypes.

At MED YU MED, Genius treats the face, eyelids, neck and decollete, and body areas including the abdomen, hands, knees, buttocks and hips. The clinician sets needle depth, energy and the number of passes against your skin and the concern being addressed, so two patients booked for the same area can still run different parameters. A consultation confirms suitability and the plan before any treatment.

Comfort is reasonable for the depth involved. Numbing cream goes on first, and most people describe pressure and warmth with brief sharper moments over bony areas where the skin sits close to bone. Afterwards, expect short-lived redness and a sandpaper texture for a day or two; some pinpoint marks can show where deeper passes ran, and swelling or bruising are less common. The needles carry heat into the dermis, so this is not a surface treatment: in October 2025 the US FDA warned that serious complications have been reported with certain uses of RF microneedling devices, including burns, scarring, fat loss, disfigurement and nerve damage, some needing surgical repair or medical intervention. That is why the clinician reviews your skin, your medical history and any implants, sets the depth per zone, and treats the eye area with particular care.

Results build rather than appear at once. Collagen remodelling continues for several months across a short course of sessions, usually spaced a few weeks apart, and outcomes vary between individuals depending on skin condition and age. Treatment performed by clinicians who hold the Genius training certificate issued by Al Amin Medical Instruments (AMICO), which ran the training at the clinic: Dr. Fariza Dzgoeva (DHA 03325290-001), Dr. Karina Abdullina (DHA 26439795-001), Dr. Ilias Dautov (DHA 09620692-002), Dr. Zhibek Rakhimbekova (DHA 28857822-001).

How a Session Works

  1. ConsultationSkin assessment, concern and area review, medical history, including any implants, pacemaker, fillers or threads. The clinician confirms suitability and sets the plan.
  2. PreparationThe area is cleansed and numbing cream is applied, then needle depth and energy are set for skin type and concern.
  3. TreatmentThe handpiece delivers insulated-needle RF pass by pass while impedance feedback adjusts the energy reaching the dermis — typically 20-40 minutes depending on the area. Protective eye shields are fitted when the eyelids or the area around the eyes are treated.
  4. AftercareExpect redness and a sandpaper feel for a day or two. Sun avoidance and SPF are advised; sessions repeat every few weeks across a short course.

FAQ

What is Genius by Lutronic?
It is a radiofrequency microneedling system made by Lutronic, the South Korean manufacturer now part of Cynosure. Insulated, gold-plated needles deliver RF energy into the dermis at a set depth, and real-time impedance sensing adjusts that energy up to 500 times per second. At MED YU MED it is used for skin tightening, acne scars and pore refinement on the face and body.
How is Genius different from other RF microneedling devices?
Genius reads tissue resistance as it works and, according to Lutronic, adjusts the energy it actually delivers up to 500 times per second, so the dose follows the depth and density of the area being treated. The clinician can see how much energy reached the dermis. MED YU MED runs three RF microneedling platforms, and the clinician picks the one that fits your skin and goal at consultation.
Is Genius RF microneedling suitable for darker skin tones?
Often, yes, and the clinician confirms it at consultation. The needles are insulated and release energy only at the tip, below the pigment-rich surface layer, so the skin you can see takes less heat than it would from ablative resurfacing — published reviews of RF microneedling in darker skin report a low rate of scarring and pigment change on that basis. Temporary post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is still reported and stays the main risk to watch on darker phototypes, so settings are kept conservative and the clinician assesses your skin and history first. Results vary between individuals.
How many Genius sessions will I need?
Genius usually runs as a short course rather than a single visit, with sessions spaced a few weeks apart so collagen can rebuild between them. The number depends on the concern and your skin, and the clinician sets it at consultation. Results build over the months that follow and vary between individuals.
Is there downtime after Genius RF microneedling?
Expect redness and a sandpaper texture for a day or two, sometimes with pinpoint marks where deeper passes ran. Swelling and bruising are less common. Most patients return to normal activity the same day with sun protection in place. Recovery varies between individuals.
Who should not have Genius RF microneedling?
Implanted electronic devices, including a pacemaker, rule out radiofrequency treatment — tell the clinician before anything else. Beyond that, Genius is not performed under the age of 18; during pregnancy or breastfeeding; over active infection, inflammation, open wounds or herpes in the treatment area; on freshly tanned or sunburnt skin or after recent intensive sun exposure; over active dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis or an acute skin flare; with active cancer or ongoing cancer treatment; with uncontrolled chronic, endocrine or autoimmune conditions; with severe uncontrolled diabetes or impaired wound healing; with keloid tendency or abnormal scarring risk; over suspicious skin lesions that need a dermatologist assessment first; after recent isotretinoin, aggressive laser, peeling or skin trauma in the area; or with sensory disorders that reduce sensitivity to heat, pain or temperature. Metal implants, permanent fillers or threads in the treatment area, blood clotting disorders or anticoagulant use, and a severe acne flare each need a doctor's approval first. A specialist confirms the full list and your suitability at consultation.
