Shedding and loss are two different problems
The American Academy of Dermatology puts normal daily shedding at 50 to 100 hairs. Above that you have excessive shedding — telogen effluvium — where hairs leave the head faster than usual but the follicles remain intact. Hair loss proper means follicles stop producing, which is a different mechanism with a different treatment.
The distinction matters commercially as well as medically: shedding often resolves once the trigger is handled, and the AAD notes that when it stops, most people see normal fullness return within six to nine months. Paying for a course of injections to achieve what would have happened anyway is the most common waste of money in this field.
What usually sits behind it
- Telogen effluvium — a shock three to four months earlier: illness, surgery, childbirth, crash dieting, a hard period of stress.
- Hereditary pattern loss — gradual, follows a recognisable map, needs long-term management.
- Deficiency and thyroid — iron, ferritin, vitamin D, thyroid function. No scalp injection fixes a blood result.
- Hormonal change — postnatal, perimenopause, contraceptive changes, PCOS.
- Scarring alopecia — follicles are destroyed and replaced by scar tissue. Urgent, because what is lost does not come back.
Living in Dubai adds its own layer. Hard water, chlorine, near-constant heat under hair, tight styles worn to keep hair off the neck, and the water change itself after relocating. None of these cause pattern baldness, but all of them worsen shedding that has another cause — and all of them are cheaper to fix than a course of injections.

What we do not do, and will not pretend to
There is no permanent solution among the treatments above. The only permanent redistribution of hair is surgical transplantation, and this clinic does not perform it. Everything on this page supports follicles that are still alive; nothing revives follicles that have already been replaced by scar tissue.
Minoxidil belongs in the same honest paragraph. The AAD states it can safely and effectively treat several causes of hair loss, and that people with hereditary loss can regrow some hair with it. It is a daily product used indefinitely, bought at a pharmacy rather than administered here, and it works alongside in-clinic protocols rather than instead of them.

How long it takes
Three to six months before anything is visible, because a follicle needs that long to move through its cycle. Photographs at week six show nothing, which is why we take them at the start and compare at month four rather than reassuring anyone in between.
Courses are the norm: PRP and exosomes are typically run monthly across several sessions, then spaced out for maintenance. If a clinic promises visible regrowth in weeks, it is describing shedding that stopped on its own.

Is losing 700 hairs a day normal?
No. The American Academy of Dermatology puts normal daily shedding at 50 to 100 hairs. It is worth investigating rather than treating blindly, because the cause frequently sits outside the scalp.

Does treatment work for female hair loss?
Yes, and the pattern differs from male loss: women more often see diffuse thinning along the parting rather than a receding hairline, and the trigger is more often hormonal, nutritional or postnatal. That makes bloodwork part of the plan more often than it is for men, and it changes which protocol is chosen.
How long until I see anything?
Hair grows on its own schedule and no device speeds up the calendar. Expect three to six months before a change is visible, because that is how long a follicle needs to move through its cycle. The AAD notes that when shedding stops, most people see normal fullness return within six to nine months.
Do I need blood tests?
Often, yes. Iron and ferritin, thyroid function, vitamin D and hormones are the usual suspects behind diffuse shedding, and no scalp injection corrects a deficiency. If the cause is systemic, we say so and the treatment starts with fixing that.
What about minoxidil?
It has evidence behind it for hereditary hair loss — the AAD states it can safely and effectively treat several causes and that people with hereditary loss can regrow some hair. It is a pharmacy product used daily and indefinitely, not a clinic procedure. It combines with in-clinic protocols rather than competing with them.
Are exosomes for hair approved?

Patients who want the option are entitled to know its regulatory status before paying for a course, and PRP — your own blood, from 800 AED — is the alternative with the longer clinical record.
Can I combine methods?
