Profhilo is a high-concentration hyaluronic acid that spreads through the skin from a small number of injection points. It is used to improve skin quality, not to fill a line or change the shape of your face. What Profhilo is
Profhilo is a skin booster. At MED YU MED it is a high-concentration hyaluronic acid (HA) that is not chemically cross-linked and spreads through the dermis instead of holding a defined volume. Hyaluronic acid is the molecule that binds water in healthy skin. Because this gel is thin and not chemically cross-linked, it does not sit under the skin as a firm lump the way a filler does.
The goal is skin quality: hydration, elasticity and a fresher, more even surface. The doctor places Profhilo at a small number of set points on the face rather than along a line or a fold. From those points the gel spreads through the tissue, binds water and may support the skin’s own collagen and elastin production; how much varies between patients.

Profhilo does not add volume or contour. It will not lift a cheek, fill a nasolabial fold or reshape a jawline. If your main concern is lost volume or shape, the doctor will say so at the consultation and suggest another approach. Some patients combine a booster for skin quality with a filler for structure.
How a Profhilo treatment goes
A Profhilo injection visit has four steps.
- Consultation. The doctor checks skin hydration, elasticity, sensitivity, inflammation, pigmentation risk, previous procedures, allergies and contraindications. Then the doctor chooses the product, the injection map and the number of sessions.
- Preparation. The skin is cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied. The doctor plans a few set points for the gel.
- Injection. A very fine needle places small amounts of the gel into the skin. A session usually takes 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the area. Most patients feel small pricks rather than pain.
- Aftercare. Small bumps usually settle within 24 to 72 hours and can stay visible for up to a week. Sessions repeat across a short course.
Every treatment starts with a medical consultation. A DHA-licensed doctor performs the injections and can manage a complication if one occurs. Injections are not done by a therapist.
Where Profhilo can be used
The clinic uses skin boosters on the face, the neck, the décolleté and the hands. The doctor decides the area from your skin concern and examines it first.
The under-eye area needs separate caution. It carries a higher risk of swelling and of vascular complications, so it is treated only after assessment and is not suitable for everyone. The doctor may choose a different product for that area, and may decide not to treat it at all.

Who Profhilo suits
Skin boosters suit dehydrated, dull skin with fine lines, reduced elasticity or early signs of photoageing. Skin worn by sun, air conditioning and the Dubai climate is a common reason to ask about them.
There is no fixed age to start. The doctor decides from the condition of your skin, not from a number. Two people of the same age can have very different skin, and only an examination shows which one needs a booster.
How many sessions, and when results show
At MED YU MED, Profhilo is usually planned as two sessions about a month apart. This is the clinic’s own scheme, and the doctor may change it for your skin. Your plan is set at the consultation.
Boosters work gradually, because they rely on the skin holding more water and building new collagen rather than adding volume on the spot. Skin usually looks more hydrated within a week or two. Skin quality and firmness may continue to improve across the course. Any improvement fades without upkeep, so the doctor may suggest maintenance sessions every few months. How well it holds depends on your skin, age and lifestyle. Results vary between individuals, and the doctor reviews your progress through the course.

After Profhilo: aftercare and side effects
Downtime is minimal. Expect small raised bumps at the injection points. They usually flatten within 24 to 72 hours and can stay visible for up to a week. You may also have mild redness or the odd pinprick bruise. Bruising lasts longer around the eyes.
For the rest of the day, avoid make-up, heat, saunas, heavy exercise and direct sun. Keep the skin clean and use SPF. Most people go back to work and daily routine the same day, but skip make-up, heavy exercise, heat and saunas until the next day. If you have an event, leave at least a week between the session and the event, because bumps and bruises can take that long to fade.
Any injection carries risk. Possible effects are swelling, infection at an injection point and an allergic reaction. Rarely, a product is injected into a blood vessel, which can damage the skin and, very rarely, affect vision. The under-eye area carries the higher risk of vascular complications and prolonged swelling.

- You tend to form keloid scars
- You want treatment around the eyes: it is done only after assessment
