Hand Rejuvenation in Dubai: Age Spots and Skin Treatment

Hand rejuvenation in Dubai: age spots, thin skin and crepey texture

Hands take sun every day and are hard to cover. At MED YU MED a doctor first examines the skin, separates pigment from laxity, and then chooses between picosecond laser, BBL light and RF microneedling. We do not promise to hide veins or tendons, and we do not treat a spot that needs a dermatologist’s opinion first.

What ages the skin on the hands

The skin on the back of the hand is thin, sits over little fat and takes sun every day. Over the years that shows as age spots, uneven tone, thin, crepey, lax skin and more visible veins and tendons. The first two are colour problems and the third is a skin-quality problem. Veins and tendons depend on how much tissue lies over them, and the methods below act on the skin, not on volume.

Get a spot checked before you treat it. Not every dark mark on the hand is an age spot. The American Academy of Dermatology points out that other spots become more common with age, including seborrheic keratoses, actinic keratoses and skin cancer. If a mark changes in shape, colour or size, has an uneven border, bleeds or itches, book an assessment before any cosmetic procedure. We do not aim light or laser at a lesion that has not been examined.

Which methods we use for hands

The doctor chooses by what you want to change. Our service pages and price list name hands or wrists for the following methods.

For age spots and uneven tone

  • PicoSure Pro: a picosecond laser with ultra-short 755 nm pulses that target excess pigment with less reliance on heat. Our page lists sun spots and age spots, and hands or wrists among the treatment areas.
  • BBL phototherapy: broadband light, not a laser, that pigment and small vessels absorb. It is listed for sun spots, age spots and photodamage on the face, neck, chest and hands.

For laxity and skin texture

  • RF microneedling on Genius by Lutronic: insulated needles deliver radiofrequency into the dermis and adjust energy to the tissue at each pulse.
  • RF microneedling on Morpheus Pro by InMode, and on VIVACE: two other RF microneedling systems the clinic runs, both with hands in their price lists.
  • Endolift: a minimally invasive laser that works under the skin. The price list includes hands; see the note below the table.

Many hands need both. The doctor decides the order at the consultation.

How the doctor chooses the method

At the first visit the doctor looks at the hand under good light and asks about your history. The choice rests on four points:

  • What the mark is. A flat sun spot, a freckle and a suspicious lesion are three different decisions.
  • Your skin tone. BBL targets melanin. Our BBL page lists skin types V and VI as a contraindication, because darker skin carries a higher risk of burns and pigment change, and the doctor suggests another method. On darker skin the doctor also sets picosecond and RF settings conservatively, and may advise a patch test.
  • Recent sun and medicines. A fresh tan, photosensitising medication or recent isotretinoin delays or changes the plan.
  • Your goal. Clearer tone, firmer skin, or both.

Age spots on hands: PicoSure Pro and BBL

PicoSure Pro. Treated spots often look darker and form fine crusts before they flake away over the following weeks. After a pigmentation session the area usually looks flushed and feels warm, like mild sunburn, for a few hours to a day. Pigmentation is usually treated as a course of sessions spaced several weeks apart; the doctor sets the number by the type and depth of pigment.

BBL. After a session the treated pigment darkens into a coffee-ground crust, then flakes off over one to two weeks; tone often looks clearer after a course. Most plans run a series of sessions a few weeks apart, with maintenance later, because sun keeps making new pigment.

Do not pick or scrub the crusts. Let them shed. Both methods can cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and it can take months to fade. Melasma can worsen after light treatment. For how pigment types differ, and why the diagnosis comes first, see our page on pigmentation treatment in Dubai.

Thin, lax or crepey skin: RF microneedling

RF microneedling combines fine needles with radiofrequency energy delivered below the surface. The aim is to stimulate collagen and elastin renewal in the dermis. Our pages list hands among the body zones where it may be used for skin laxity, after doctor assessment.

The plan on our pages is a short course. For Genius and VIVACE, three to four sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart; for the Morpheus Pro system, about three sessions in the same interval. Numbing cream goes on first. Expect redness and a warm, sandpaper-like texture for one to three days. Skin may feel firmer within a few weeks, while the fuller change builds over three to six months as collagen matures. How much you gain depends on your skin, and no percentage of improvement can be promised.

RF microneedling does not clear brown spots. If you have both spots and lax skin, the doctor may plan a pigment course and an RF course one after the other. The FDA issued a safety communication on 15 October 2025 about certain uses of RF microneedling and advises treatment only by a licensed provider trained on the device.

Endolift on the hands

Endolift is a minimally invasive laser lift: it works under the skin. Expect swelling and bruising; the doctor explains recovery at the consultation. The price list includes hands, but our Endolift page lists the same price under arms, so the doctor confirms at the consultation whether it suits your hand at all.

Prices from the MED YU MED price list and the service pages for PicoSure Pro, BBL and RF microneedling, checked 29 September 2026. The price list names the PicoSure zones “Wrists of hands”; the PicoSure service page names them “Hands”. Endolift is listed as “Hands” on the price list and as “Arms” at the same price on the Endolift page. Confirm the zone and the plan at the consultation.

Risks and side effects

Flushing, warmth, crusting and temporary darkening of treated pigment are expected after light and laser sessions. Less common: burns, blistering, infection, scarring, and pigment change in either direction; melasma can worsen. After RF microneedling, expect redness and a grid pattern for one to three days. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is the main concern on darker skin, which is common in Dubai. The answer is conservative settings, a test patch where advised, and sun protection, not a promise of no risk.

Sun protection: what protects the result

Sun makes new pigment. If you treat age spots and then keep the hands in daylight without cover, spots return. During a course:

  • Avoid sun, tanning and self-tanner on the hands, and stay out of direct sun as far as you can. We ask patients to avoid sun for at least two weeks before pigment sessions.
  • Use sunscreen on the backs of the hands every day. NHS guidance advises at least SPF 30 with at least 4-star UVA protection, applied generously and reapplied every 2 hours and after water, sweating or towel drying. Hands are washed often, so reapply after every wash.

Who this suits, and who should wait

A course may suit you if

  • You have flat sun spots or uneven tone on the hands that have been stable for months
  • You want firmer, smoother skin on the back of the hand
  • You can protect your hands from the sun every day
  • You can come for a course of visits in Dubai
  • You expect improvement, not a different pair of hands

Wait, or the doctor decides first, if

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have a fresh tan or sunburn on the hands
  • You take photosensitising medication or have recently used isotretinoin
  • There is infection, herpes, an open wound or active inflammation on the hand
  • You have a history of keloid or abnormal scarring
  • You have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, or metal implants or fillers in the area: tell the doctor, who decides whether RF treatment is possible
  • A mark has changed shape, colour or size, or looks unlike your other spots
  • You are under 18 (PicoSure Pro), or you have active cancer or are in cancer treatment

What this page does not cover. We do not offer surgery. This page describes energy-based skin treatments only. It does not describe volume treatments for the hands, and none of the methods above is presented as a way to hide veins or tendons.

This list is not exhaustive. Medicines, previous treatments and your history can change the plan. A licensed doctor decides whether treatment is suitable at an in-person assessment.

Bring your hands, not a screenshot

The doctor examines each mark, checks your skin type and recent sun, and tells you which method fits, how many sessions to plan and what it costs. If a spot needs a dermatologist first, you hear that first.

Questions people ask

Which hand rejuvenation treatment is right for me?

Age spots and uneven tone are treated with PicoSure Pro or BBL, and lax, thin skin with RF microneedling. The doctor chooses after examining your hands, skin type and recent sun exposure, and may combine methods one after the other.

How do you treat age spots on hands?

With a picosecond laser (PicoSure Pro) or broadband light (BBL), once a doctor has checked that the marks are ordinary sun spots. Treated spots darken, form fine crusts and flake off. Most people need a course of sessions spaced several weeks apart. Results vary.

Should a spot on my hand be checked before treatment?

Yes, if it changes shape, colour or size, has an uneven border, bleeds, itches or looks unlike your other marks. Other spots that become more common with age include seborrheic keratoses, actinic keratoses and skin cancer. We refer anything suspicious to a dermatologist before any light or laser is used.

How many sessions will I need?

Pigment is usually treated as a course of sessions spaced several weeks apart; the doctor sets the number by the type and depth of the pigment. RF microneedling plans on our pages run three to four sessions, spaced about four to six weeks apart.

How long until I see results?

Pigment fades gradually: treated spots darken first, then break down and lighten over the following weeks. After RF microneedling, skin may feel firmer within a few weeks, and the fuller change builds over three to six months. Results vary.

Can you hide veins and tendons on the hands?

We do not promise that. Veins and tendons show more when the skin is thin and the tissue over them is lean. The methods on this page improve pigment and skin quality; they do not add volume.

Is there downtime after hand treatment?

After PicoSure Pro pigment sessions the hand looks flushed and feels warm for a few hours to a day. After BBL, treated spots flake off over one to two weeks. After RF microneedling, expect redness and a grid pattern for one to three days.

Will the age spots come back?

They can. Sun keeps producing new pigment, which is why BBL plans include maintenance and why daily sun protection is part of treatment.

How much does hand rejuvenation cost in Dubai?

From our price list, one hands session costs 900 AED for BBL pigmentation, 1 000 AED for PicoSure Pro pigmentation and 1 300 AED for PicoSure Pro skin rejuvenation. RF microneedling for hands costs 1 500 AED on Genius, 1 800 AED on Morpheus Pro and 2 200 AED on VIVACE. Courses cost less per session; the plan and price are set at the consultation.

What are the risks?

Flushing, crusting and temporary darkening of treated spots are expected. Less common: burns, blistering, infection, scarring and pigment change; darker skin has a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and melasma can worsen. Call +971 52 184 5011 if you develop a blister, an open area, spreading redness, fever or increasing pain, or go to the nearest emergency department or call 998 when we are closed.
