Botulinum toxin injections performed by licensed physicians at a DHA-registered clinic on Bluewaters Island.
MED YU MED Dubai offers a range of botulinum toxin treatments administered exclusively by licensed physicians at our DHA-registered clinic on Bluewaters Island.
Three formulations are available depending on clinical indication and patient history: OnabotulinumtoxinA (Botox), AbobotulinumtoxinA (Dysport), and IncobotulinumtoxinA (Xeomin). Your treating physician will determine the appropriate formulation and dose during a face-to-face consultation.
Onset typically begins within 3-7 days, with peak effect at approximately two weeks. Duration varies by area and individual response, generally ranging from 3-6 months. Dosing is calculated per unit to the treatment area; uniform protocols do not apply to all patients.
Under UAE law, botulinum toxin is a prescription-only medicine that may only be administered by qualified physicians. All practitioners at MED YU MED hold DHA licensure (Clinic License No. 6589480). Patients are advised to disclose full medical history, including neuromuscular conditions, pregnancy, or concurrent medications, prior to treatment.
Treatable areas include: upper-face dynamic lines (forehead, frown, crow’s feet), brow elevation, masseter hypertrophy (jaw slimming), axillary hyperhidrosis, platysmal neck bands, and lip-flip refinement. A full list of individual treatment pages is provided below.
Results may vary. Consultation with a licensed physician is required before any treatment. MED YU MED does not guarantee specific outcomes.
How botulinum toxin works
Botulinum toxin temporarily blocks the signal between a motor nerve and the muscle it controls. The muscle relaxes, reducing the contraction that creates dynamic wrinkles — lines formed by repeated movement such as squinting, frowning or smiling.
Effect onset is typically 3–5 days, peak effect at 10–14 days, and duration 3–4 months for most facial muscles. The masseter muscle (for jaw slimming) may last up to 6 months. As effect fades, normal muscle function returns.
Treatment areas
We treat the following areas. Final suitability is confirmed at consultation.
- Forehead lines — horizontal lines from brow raising
- Frown lines (glabella) — vertical lines between brows
- Crow’s feet — lines at outer corners of eyes
- Brow lift — repositioning brow position through targeted relaxation
- Bunny lines — diagonal lines on the nose
- Lip flip — slight eversion of upper lip border
- Masseter (jaw slimming) — reducing lower face width and teeth grinding
- Nefertiti neck lift — relaxing platysma bands along the neck
- Hyperhidrosis — underarm, palm or sole excessive sweating
Our approach — conservative dosing
Dose and placement determine outcome. Over-treated Botox produces a heavy, artificial look that many patients want to avoid. At MED YU MED we start conservatively and adjust at a two-week review if needed. We do not aim for zero movement — we aim for a rested, natural appearance.
The physician performs a dynamic assessment before injection: watching muscle movement during expression, identifying asymmetry and considering individual anatomy. Dosing is personalised.
Before your appointment
- Avoid blood-thinning supplements (fish oil, vitamin E, aspirin if not medically required) for 5–7 days
- No alcohol for 24 hours before treatment
- Arrive with clean skin — no heavy makeup on the treatment area
- Disclose any prescription medication, especially blood thinners, anticoagulants or recent facial procedures
- Do not book within 2 weeks of a major event — allow time for settling
After treatment
- Stay upright for 4–6 hours — do not lie down
- Avoid intense exercise, sauna and alcohol for 24 hours
- Do not massage or apply pressure to the treated areas
- Mild redness or small bumps at injection sites are normal and resolve within hours
- Contact the clinic if you notice drooping, asymmetry or unusual spread of effect
- Plan a two-week review if this is your first treatment or you are trying a new area
Who should not have Botox

- Neuromuscular conditions such as myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome
- Active infection or inflammatory skin condition in the treatment area
