Risks, and when a session is not done
Laser hair removal can cause burns and blistering, crusting, and both hyperpigmentation and
hypopigmentation. That risk rises on tanned skin and at higher phototypes, because the laser targets
pigment. Paradoxical hypertrichosis, meaning increased hair growth in or around the treated area, is
uncommon but recognised. Protective eyewear is worn throughout the session.

- Active infection, inflammation, open wounds or herpes in the treatment area
- Fresh tan, recent intensive sun exposure or sunburn
- Active dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis or acute skin flare in the treatment area

- Active cancer or suspicious skin lesions in the treatment area
- Uncontrolled chronic, endocrine or autoimmune conditions
- Keloid tendency or abnormal scarring risk
- Recent aggressive peeling, laser resurfacing or skin trauma in the treatment area
- Tattoos or permanent makeup in the treatment area, unless avoided by the specialist
- Moles and pigmented lesions in the treatment area, which a doctor examines before the first session

A blister, an open area of skin, a burn, spreading redness with heat and pain, or a fever after
